You can stamp on glitter!

Welcome!

Welcome to my brand-spanking new blog! I'm so excited I could easily stay awake all night posting things and playing with all the shiny new buttons on this blog. Sadly, I still have a "real job" and must focus on adulting for the next few months until I can relax for the winter. Never fear! I will find ways to procrastinate and shirk my responsibilities while making beautiful things.

The following how-to videos are coming soon:

  • Faux watercoloring technique
  • Metallic elements using alcohol ink
  • Papertrey Ink Star-Search video entry

Meanwhile, enjoy my September 2016 Papertrey Ink blog hop entry...

Papertrey Blog Hop

The challenge was to develop our creativity by keeping the design simple. This is the inspiration photo we were given:

Papertrey Blog Hop Sept 2016I decided to create a tag using black and green elements with simple craft accents. The foliage is from the new Papertrey Ink Holiday Greens and Holiday Greens Borders sets stamped in Simply Chartreuse, Olive Twist and Pinfeather. The sentiment is from their Holiday Tags 2013 collection stamped in Smoky Shadow. The greens are actually stamped on white Stamper Select paper from PTI and then "enhanced" using my faux watercoloring technique. Watch for a video coming soon! These were way easy to make and lots of fun.

Oh I just love that holiday green set! Love what you did , putting it on white with some faux watercolor technique..looks so lush green!

Sunny

Thank you Barbara! I'm in love with this set too - it's so fun. I can't wait to show everyone the project this tag is attached to. You're going to love it. :)

Shelly Sweigart

Beautiful tag Sunny! I especially love the details like the stitched edge. I see you snuck some glitter in here too! I look forward to seeing your watercoloring technique.

Sunny

LOL! Thank you Shelly! Are you referring to the little white specks on the polka dot paper? That's actually a "distressed" style patterned paper from PTI so those are "missing ink" areas that are part of the paper design. I managed not to get any glitter on this tag, but there was still some in my MISTI so I had some stray specks on the next tag.

Maybe I should run a contest at some point called "spot the glitter." More likely though it will be "spot the dog hair." There's always one...

Corinna

I've never used the holiday tags before! I might have to go on the hunt for some. They just look so professional and elegantly finished, don't they?!

GinaEgg

Sunny, this tag is so gorgeous!!! I just filed my Holiday Greens set, but now am anxious. to get it out and start using it after seeing this. I love it!!!!

Sunny

Thank you, I am having so much fun with it! I really love layered looks and 3-dimensional designs so this set is right up my ally. Be sure to tune in for the Star Search video contest at PTI in November because I used it to make something really cool... but I can't share it yet. *on pins & needles*

Sunny

Corrina it's so great to see you here!! I do love this tag set, it's really so polished and beautiful that I have to convince people these are hand made. That's the best kind of compliment!

What a gorgeous tag, Sunny! Holiday Greens is at the top of my list...as soon as I can find some extra cash to place an order. 😏Eager to see your Star Search video!
